Our firm comprises a team of two experienced criminal lawyers.

MATTHEW WHITE - PRINCIPAL

Matthew studied a combined Arts and Laws degree at Monash University, graduating in 1993. He is also a Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Criminal Law Specialist which means he is recognised as being one of the best criminal lawyers in his field. 

He has been practising in criminal law exclusively for in excess of 14 years and has vast experience and knowledge.  He worked as a lawyer at the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions for 5 years and acquired a detailed knowledge and understanding of white collar crime, fraud offences and drug offences.

He also worked at Victoria Legal Aid in Melbourne for 3 years as a Senior Lawyer, during which time he was involved in many high profile cases and worked on a number of murder trials and other challenging Supreme Court cases. 

Since moving into private practice in 2001 he has focused on providing accomplished advocacy and representation.  He appears as an Advocate on a daily basis in the Magistrates’ Court.  He also appears in committal hearings and represents clients in the County Court charged with most criminal offences. He has operated the firm as a Principal since his former business partner was appointed a Magistrate in 2004. 

BETH WILD - ASSOCIATE

Beth completed her Tertiary studies in the Northern Territory. She obtained her Articles at the Northern Territory Legal Aid Commission and worked as an Associate to His Honour Justice Steven Bailey in the Northern Territory Supreme Court. 

She has previously worked as a Solicitor for Victoria Legal Aid and is in her fifth year of practise as a Solicitor practising exclusively in criminal law. She is currently undertaking her Masters of Law at the University of Melbourne.  She appears in the Children’s Court, the Magistrates’ Court and the County Court on an almost daily basis.

As a growing area of her practice, Beth advises and represents employees involved in Occupational Health & Safety investigations.

Beth is proficient in matters of procedure, case management, evidence and substantive law.  She is aware of the particular stress associated with appearing in court and is well attuned to the concerns of her clients.  She provides a sensitive ear and common sense advice.  She also strives to ensure that her client’s rights are always protected.
